Agriculture and Agro Dealer Software: Season, Credit and Expiry
The season is the calendar
Boro, Aman and Rabi each pull a different mix of seed, fertiliser and pesticide. Stock bought for one season cannot be sold in the next at the same price, and a dealer who cannot see last season's movement buys the same slow item twice.
Sales history by item and month is enough to plan the next order. It does not need a forecast engine; it needs the last two seasons in one view.
Expiry is not optional
Pesticide and treated seed carry a date. A batch that expires in the godown is a loss, not stock. Batch-wise inventory with an expiry alert lets the dealer push the older batch first and return what will not move before the date passes.
Credit follows the harvest
Most sales are on account. The farmer pays after selling the crop, so the due is not overdue in the usual sense until the harvest window closes. Customer-wise aging, a credit limit and a printed or link-based statement prevent the quiet accumulation that ends in a bad debt.
Partial payments are normal. Each payment should reduce the oldest due first, and the statement should show the running balance without the dealer reconstructing it from a diary.
Bags, kilograms and litres
Fertiliser arrives in bags, seed in packets, pesticide in bottles. The customer may ask for two kilograms from a 50 kg bag. Multi-unit conversion lets the counter sell the small quantity while stock stays in the purchase unit.
Returns and damaged stock
Unsold seasonal stock may go back to the supplier; spoiled stock is a write-off. A return note against the purchase and a stock adjustment for damage keep the two separate. Mixing them hides whether the loss is the supplier's or the shop's.

Frequently asked questions
Can I sell 2 kg from a 50 kg fertiliser bag?
Yes, with multi-unit conversion. Stock stays in bags and the invoice records kilograms.
How do I stop expired pesticide being sold?
Track batches with expiry dates and alert before the date. Pick the oldest batch first and return what will not move.
Can a farmer pay in instalments?
Yes. Each payment reduces the account, and the statement shows the remaining balance and due date.
